Maknud of the Isle has unearthed a new spell, which bears the marks of instability of several other members of the Isle:
Psychosis (Enchantment)
PSDW
Only affects Warlocks. The turn it is cast, the caster must declare Fear, Amnesia or Maladroit in chat. The target is assumed to be your opponent unless specified otherwise in chat. The following turn the victim must submit gestures as though they were affected by the declared spell.
If the target is hit by any mindspell (DPP, DSF, FFF, SWD, PSDF, PSDD, or another Psychosis) the same turn, Psychosis fails and any regular mindspells work as normal. (If the target is enchanted by a permanent mindspell, Psychosis fails.)
Psychosis can be Countered, and fails if the target is hit with Remove Enchantment on the same turn. Psychosis CAN be reflected by a Magic Mirror; the new victim is affected by the declared mindspell, and the Mirror-caster scores bonus points (below) if the spell hits.
If a permanent spell is possible (due to being enchanted by SPFPSDW) and the Warlock wishes to cast Permanent Psychosis, he must not use the regular permanency controls. Instead, declare both the desired Psychosis effect and "PERMANENT" in chat. If successful, the victim is permanently affected by whatever effect the caster chose. This differs from a regular permanent mindspell in one important way: it does not prevent other mindspells from working. If successfully hit by FFF, DPP, DSF, SWD, or PSDF, during the time that spell is in effect, the psychosis will do nothing; it will spring back into effect when that mindspell's effect is over. Note that bounced mindspells and PSDD do not disrupt the effect of the permanent psychosis. Psychosis also does not disrupt its effect.
A permanent psychosis can also be completely overwritten by a permanent FFF, DPP, DSF, SWD, or PSDF.
Psychosis can also be delayed in similar fashion; the caster declares a chosen effect, a target, and says "DELAYED" while he must ignore the regular delay effect controls. This works just like any other banked spell.
If a Warlock makes an illegal gesture when affected by Psychosis, he must surrender. This includes if he is later discovered to have misgestured when it was not obvious (due to Blindness or Invisibility).
SCORING:
+10/-10 for Winning/Losing
+2 extra points to you (and -2 to your opponent) each time you successfully affect your opponent with Psychosis.
+3 extra points to you (and -3 to your opponent) if you ever tried to make Psychosis permanent and/or Delayed Psychosis. In this case, the spell does not have to be successful. (A successful permanent or delayed psychosis just earns +3 and does not qualify for the +2 above. To be clear, you and your opponent are each eligible for the +3 bonus once and only once each game)
Bonus points are always truncated at +10/-10.
