Alright, to branch a topic off the gentlemen's disscusion... let's debate who the next master is/should/could be. Everyone has two votes, and the results will be displayed and locked in one week. The options were simply the highest ELO players, who weren't masters. I included Justix, since I think he had an ELO reset. If i left someone off, my apologies. I know, I should have included myself, but i wanted to give others a chance Honorable mentions for Asgardian and Calicojack. Those guys were pretty sweet too, but didn't make the ELO cut. And Pig too? I couldn't remember if he was a "master"... but if he isn't... he probably needs to play some more to earn it... Also, i think we need to coin a term for the "almost masters". For those who are playing now, and are considered the elite of the current players. Masters can rehash their glory days.. but there has to be a "best" of the current players. It doesn't seem right to be at the top of the charts, and still not be able to claim any glory... since the old school pros are in retirement. Please keep your personal votes private until after the vote has been locked. ;D

Heh. This reminds me of Giant-Size X-Men #1. In fact... hold on, I'll be right back.

Was 1900 the ELO cutoff? I'm all of 14 points below Biologin but more than 50 ELO above the next person down. Although, actually, it doesn't matter. I don't think I'd score too many votes here. I wouldn't expect to beat (m)any of the folks above more than 50% of the time. I'll just fly under the radar a bit longer

This thread is going to ruffle some feathers, I'm sure. I honestly don't think anyone on that list is on the level of any of the masters save Pig, but he was an old master of course. The player who has been most consistently on top is Toyotami, the player who has had the most flashes of brilliance is Justix, and the only player I see with master potential is BioLogIn. But none of them quite deserve it right this moment, I think. All of the other masters have dominated Elo and ladder for a long period of time.

Neat idea for a poll, to see what the general respect level is for certain players.
exdeath, I would think anyone on that list has the potential to be a master. But, perhaps, not being one, I can't accurately assess that.

You're probably right. Anyone on that list who devotes enough time to studying the game can become a master, I suppose. Restructuring the way you think is not an easy thing to do, though, and some people already think about the game in the right way.

Because clearly, this topic needs a head start on offending people:

All I can say is, I'm glad I didn't have to be Thunderbird. ..Oh, and Banshee made his appearance way before Polaris. Havok and Sunfire came very shortly thereafter.

Uh-oh.
It is quite hard for some ppl to vote for inactive dudes (zugs and justix). I, for myself, haven't played Justix at all, he was gone before I started playing. And I have played VS Rycchus but once.
All in all, I vote for the only '2000 breaker' on the list =)
And as for me, I have no idea how many votes I'll get in this 'popular vote', but certainly that won't make me a Master ))
Still I'm curious about the question I asked (Slartucker probably missed it in 'gentlemen' thread) - where he was going to 'suggest' Toyotami for 'Master' rank, if we don't have any kind of Master counsil (as far as I know)?

I was never going to suggest Toyo as a master! No offense to him. The point of my post was that I had considered suggesting labelling him as a 1.5 tier player, given how long he's lingered there. You've already dragged out of me the one warlock I really do think is on the cusp of tier 1.
And I suppose by 'suggest' I simply meant 'mention it here'.
