(I've had an awful mood today, and somehow I was roaming over covens' pages linked at Refuge. I've read Emrys' story about unmasking WOGHD and decided to have some fun.) Okay, as most of you might notice, during the last update of Refuge (which happened last August, btw), there appeared a link to a page of "secret warlocks society" named 's-lect'. It leads here: s-lect.50webs.com/What we can deduct from this small page? - It was created on July 19th, 2007 (a month before Refuge last update) and hasn't changed ever since. Note that it was - It has some 'hidden' (white-colored) text that wonders if it is a secret message or just some kind of mislead. - Authors manner of html parsing\markup (or rather author's HTML editor) is identical to ones at Refuge (and HTML markup usually quite differs from person to person) Given all this, and given some psychological considerations (s-lect appeared right when Slartucker just returned - minmax.ermarian.net/refuge/history.html - and when he was full of enthusiasm; also the page author is obviously heavily into poetry and language, which, as I understand, suits to Slarty well) I think we can safely assume that Slartucker is s-lect founder. We may still have more fun making guesses about the other four and their respective pseudonyms. It is logical to assume Taliesin and Yaron were invited, since they were qualified back then. The last two leave much broader field to guess. So, if anyone has ideas about s-lect members and\or matching pseudonyms with warlock nicknames, let's have fun )) Post your guesses here =)

I've never heard of this before (or have I??) but the name certainly sounds like a ripoff of d-l33t. You really assume it's made up of ex-elites and not just a bunch of scrubs? July of '07 is long long after Taliesin and Yaron quit, that's right about when I was last active at the top of the ladder. The standards say you must be active, so, wouldn't that rule them both (and Slartucker) out?

ExDeath Name certainly sounds as 'd-leet' rip-off. But do you really think Slartucker would have posted a link to this 'elite society' after just an anonymous e-mail from somebody? I really doubt it is possible.
As for members part I somehow was under impression that you were inactive back them (obviously wrong now as you remind of it) and I still think Tali was active or half-active (he was really replying here in forums and he was playing from his alt account as well).
So should I replace 'Tali and Yaron' with 'Tali and ExDeath'? =)

Obviously if you think I was part of this club, you never read rule #2.
And yeah, of course he would post a link to the site if he stumbled across it or if the creator asked him to. Refuge is all about sharing information and that includes clans, sects, etc. Why not? As for the HTML, I'm not sure if you've seen all of the Warlocks pages around, but they're not exactly testaments to modern programming. I don't see much resemblance in the way the code is structured, other than the fact that they're both very basic...one uses font size tags and the other uses h1/h4 tags for the same effect. One has code spaced evenly and the other doesn't. They were both probably edited in a word processor. Anyway, I still don't think Slartucker created it, but if he did, here's who I would put the members down as:
* Apostle, Fallen to Limbo - Has to be Slarty, right? * Kali, Born of Chaos - Rycchus * Regulator, Keeper of the Equilibrium - awall * Twisted Harlequin, Shadow of the Slanted Pathways - Citanest * Underlying Avatar, Guardian of the Spirit World - Taliesin

Ok, I see your point =) As for the HTML, I'm not sure if you've seen all of the Warlocks pages around, but they're not exactly testaments to modern programming. I don't see much resemblance in the way the code is structured, other than the fact that they're both very basic... Dunno. Mass '\r\n<br>' is pretty weird way to handle line breaks. But maybe I'm just imagine things here. of course he would post a link to the site if he stumbled across it or if the creator asked him to. Refuge is all about sharing information and that includes clans, sects, etc. Why not? well, maybe because he actually was one of the best at that moment, and as far as I understand he could have easily ask Taliesin about him begin in s-lect... and without them any 'elite society' would have been pretty much fake, so why bother post disinformation on your site. * Apostle, Fallen to Limbo - Has to be Slarty, right? * Kali, Born of Chaos - Rycchus * Regulator, Keeper of the Equilibrium - awall * Twisted Harlequin, Shadow of the Slanted Pathways - Citanest * Underlying Avatar, Guardian of the Spirit World - Taliesin Dunno, Awall wasn't even 1900 back then... and Rycchus wasn't really active as far as I remember. Why not Toyo? Why not Zugswang? Hype-hype.

If you look through the covens links, you can see that I scoured all known warlocks-related pages and groups pretty thoroughly to find anything to list, and listed a lot of meaningless groups. s-lect was as amusing as any of them.

That's what you'd like us to believe!! Bio: Your history might be a bit off, but Slartucker and Taliesin really were inactive for over a year in July of '07. I know they played on alts, but that's the only reason I gave the list of names I did, because Citanest/awall/Rycchus were the ones who played against their alts the most at that time.

Citanest? Was he even around for that long? Citanest?? He's been around for at least 4 years. As of the date that Bio gave, he was 3rd in Elo behind me and zugzwang.

Yeah.. i kinda wondered who started S-lect. I kinda thought it was Dubber. It would make sense that the creator went away too.. since there doesn't seem to be any activity since creation... unless Slarty forgot about it....

I know Citanest has been around a long time, obviously. I mean did he stick around for that long on his most recent return to the game? I remember it being pretty brief. (And he has been absent for most of the last 2 or 3 years, though not consistently.)

Citanest wasn't participating in 2007 Tourney, so I guess he was not really active till the end of summer. However, I remember him being active when I started climbing from 1700 in September'07, and he lasted till May'08 playing ladder and in the League.
xade come on, mate, are you even serious? or did you forgot to put some smilies again? =))
*Bio is really hyped and exited from playing Mr. Detective* XD Slartucker so, do you officially deny you connection to s-lect? )
And I'm really wonder why awall (last warlock who cared about clan activities - he fought his way to d-l33t this winter after all) hasn't posted here yet =)
