My goodness other clans! You guys got smashed by record margins this month! Should we make the rule - Isle members must open with a clap - just to give you guys a chance? As I recall, all Clan Leaders fell to me this month... or had you conveniently forgotten?

Of course not... But the high champion doesn't control the orb, the clan that DECIMATED everyone else does...

Yeah, I really need to talk to the Unraveller & Weaver about that...

Yeah, I really need to talk to the Unraveller & Weaver about that... Actually, what you really need to do is teach Nawglan and Emrys how to play better and/or recruit more high-ELO players. Or free up enough of my time to participate some month, but that's unlikely to happen in the near future.

Dubber does have a point. The current system is approximately linear in competence: a clan of 10 good warlocks will nearly always beat a clan of 4 really good warlocks for High Clan, as long as there are enough mediocre warlocks participating (which we want to encourage!). As long as the Isle keeps having a positive score vs every clan (not just positive overall) then there's definitely no problem with us continuing to get the Orb. But what happens when the hypothetical future Black Rose beats the Isle by 10 points, while the Isle beats the field by 30 points and the HFBR beats the field by only 20 points and is not named High Clan? It's by the rules, but it makes the rules look a bit odd. Luckily this situation won't ever come up, because we're just talking about the HFBR. In reality the Isle will beat the Black Rose every single month. So there.

Gentlemen. While your points are perfectly valid, let me remind you that League is about fun, and not about serious competition.

Yep! And much as I hate to admit it, it may be more fun for people not in the Isle (substitute "current obviously dominant clan") if the structure of deciding who decides the next rule doesn't essentially exclude them. That said, I realize this just means we need more threads in the Square (i.e. not in private forums) about discussing cool rule ideas.

March games are over (last accounted game is Vermont-Toyo). Clans are encouraged to submit info about their position changes ASAP.

When was the deadline again? I posted on « Reply #49 on Mar 25, 2009, 8:26pm »
This was well before other final battles were posted. I thought the month ended much later than the 25th, but what do I know?

Maven As per reminder thread, March deadline was March 26th, GMT 00:00. Your post is March 26th GMT 04:26. I suppose you're GMT -8 or something like that? I didn't account battles reported after that one either (my battle with salvor ended bit too late as well), as mentioned in Standings thread: "Last Updated: March 27 (up to Vermont vs Toyotami)" == BTW, I consider altering some deadlines this month (especially given aren't really followed by some of you guys). So please pay attention in the end of this month.
