Idea, Scaling unit costs with grid networth or even personal networth would create a money sinkhole. Cities would become more valuable also.. number of units able to be placed on the square should depend on the amount of cities. example: 1 city allows 100 units on the square or even 1 city equals 1000 units on the square. would create another reason for cities which would make another sinkhole for money. Would keep inflation down and would allow new players to keep up with older players and 'giants' much easier. it gives them a fight chance instead of none at all Just a few comments: [/b] Using the current game mechanics in 2.0, Smaller players would have less cities, thus even less ability to hold units if this were true. This would discourage players from attacking, or even pose a problem for them to protect their squares. In addition, with the imposed cap of 50 cities per (normal) square, it would create a even larger gap, since larger players have more ability to spire up, build more cities and more units. Conversely, smaller players would only have 50 cities maximum on a square, which limits their ability to attack larger players. Even without any caps, noobs will still start out with few cities, so does that mean that they have to catch up to the huge city-count on neighbouring squares in order to conquer them? 2. Unit cost should not scale according to grid worth.Scaling gives too much restriction in purchasing units. Let the units scale themselves by the players' judgments on the situation/growth of the grid. [/ul] I think cities are still valuable, even though they generate assets at a slower rate than farms. They can still produce units overnight while you are not playing. Think of it as an automated purchase of units. Auto-deposit might have reduced the usefulness, but cities should still be built.

Yeah, the entire Grid Economy could use some tweaks as far as income and tax and happy-hours etc, but I agree with Pop's points here in regards to units and cities. I like the idea that certain things are set at fixed prices - units have always been 10G apiece, perms have always cost 1 million. That seems right. Also, I don't see why cities need to cost less than farms. Cities are separate from farms, they're used for a different purpose so I see no need to change the cost to make them cheaper than farms - players can just buy less of them if they feel they're overpriced for the returned value you get on them.
I think we're probably still a ways off from things like clans and miniature grids within The Grid - ideally you need a lot more players for these things to really become useful. Right now, the focus is still on pulling in more players. Don't want to think too far beyond that and a slick new Grid 3.0 to pull them in with. Additional features and more clever mechanics is really kind of an after thought to me at this point and can cross that bridge later.

If I may ask what is it we are doing about SME for 3.0 are the even going to be included? As of now they are worthless... the actual SME worth is useful but the buying and selling of stocks is worthless. I would be fine with it getting thrown out or just increase the buy limit... either 1mil - 10mil seems reasonable it is better then the 100mil limit which allowed serious cash hiding

Along with my ghost suggestions earlier of being able to possess as a ghost, shosts currently have NO energy regeneration rates.. I believe they should have a 1% energy regeneration rates as there are things you can currently do as a ghost that requires energy so a regeneration would be nice. Opposite to having squares with wizards when you are a ghost you get 1% extra energy regeneration for every wizard. So A ghost with 4 wizards would get 5% energey regeneration each HappyHour. I am slowly coming up with ideas to throw at you guys xD

At this point I don't have any plans to include SME on 3.0, unless somewhere along the line we think it's necessary to have. Maybe it could be introduced later, but anyway it'll have to function differently so that the value in the stocks is tied to real value on The Grid, which is why it didn't really work well in current Grid.
Ghosts... being able to do different commands is probably fine as long as the damage they inflict is minimal and like you say the energy rate for which they can do things builds up more slowly or something. The goal is to get ghosts to spawn again, not stay a ghost just bugging everyone forever when serious players can't retaliate against them, which is why ghosts got nerfed in the first place.

I see where you're coming from. I want it as to give Gridder's ,who are taking it easy to deal with RL things, something to do that doesn't require their full attention. I will devise a list of different Ideas for ghosts so that we can discuss and eliminate the un-needed ones. Give me something to do while at work lol, THINK THINK THINK its all I do while working lol
