Just curious why the DF version of blindness was added to the game.... seems to just add yet another reason to head towards Charm Person by default... was this in defense of some powerful strategy?

Charm adds more to DF blindness than DF blindness adds to charm, really; despite the frequency with which charm is cast, blindness is a relatively rare occurance. Somebody probably noticed that blindness was almost never used, as it had both a less common opening (DWF) than invis, and a significantly less powerful ending (D/D vs S/S) and tried to make up for it.

Ah, so basically it was, nobody in their right mind would cast blindness the way it was, so let's combo it into something that happens all the time to make up for the five gestures and double d at the end.
