Post by Wider, adepte of evil forces on Apr 25, 2010 6:01:36 GMT -5
"I am the Wider. I am an adepte of evil forces, so if there is any path, so despised and detested as is the path of the perpetual paralysis, it interests me." the warlock said, snapping continuously with his fingers, and continued: "It has been said that forces of paramancing are so strong, that even the old ExDeath was afraid to face succat. But..."
Wider turned around to face his victim, which helplessly winced at the will of the sinister warlock.
"... this paramancing specimen could not enlighten me. I could not see any strength in his weaves. There must be more to it."
He finally points to his opponent, and Yevaud falls.

Nope, the "Permanent" anything ends at the end of the battle (otherwise you would still be making the gestures I want you to, instead of haring off on your own up in those high ELO ranges)

Well, it is said that referee casts dispel before each battle, but not after... So I guess each warlock affected by permanent spell has to find someone to cast a dispel... or to enter another battle =)

It definitely used to be in the RBW rules. And it doesn't seem to be anymore. How odd!

i think what we're referring to is under the spell description for surrender:"However, if you live to the end of the turn, the referee will cure any diseases, poisons etc. in time for your next battle." man, it's been a while since i've read through that stuff. nice refreshers, i'm gonna have to go back and read through the refuge again too. it's amazing what you learn rereading things you already know. @slartucker: it's been a while since i read the history section, it looks really good. i didn't realize warlocks (or "that wavy hands game" as my wife says) had been around that long.

No, it used to state very specifically that the referee cast dispel magic. I believe this was in the same place that it mentioned warlocks were revived after death.
re the history section -- thanks. I actually have most of a website update that I wrote 2 years ago, didn't -quite- finish and never uploaded... maybe someday

maybe it was just in the original waving hands rules? www.gamecabinet.com/rules/WavingHands.htmlBefore the battle commences, the referee casts a dispel magic followed by an anti-spell at each of the wizards so they cannot commence gesturing prematurely in order to nearly finish a spell when they start the battle. For the same reason, being made resistant to fire in your last battle doesn't do you any good in the next.

cold and alone in the middle of the circle, Wider holds up his hands.
"Do you have what you wanted now?" ourjake asks, "What you came here for? have you seen your strength? A Paramancer's strength is not that of a sword, clanging away at another's shield. it is the strength of water, always changing, never giving a place to push off, intentions both obvious and subtle. it is...perpetual. Exdeath was right to fear succat, there is more there than you see. The strength of para is not the weave, the strength is what is woven."

Ah yes, I remember reading that and thinking it was quite amusing that this is what the designer felt he needed to clarify in order to keep his original players from munchkin-ing.
