Round 2 begins Friday, September 21 (3 PM EST). It lasts for two weeks and therefore the time limit is at 3 PM, Friday, October 5.
Because up to three games are now required, warlocks are expected to play quickly. Provided that is the case, I am very likely to allow matches to continue past time limits -- with three games, going over two weeks may be reasonable. The two week cutoff will continue to be used, however, if anyone's play is very slow. As a reminder, if your opponent is playing too slowly, report it to me via a private message.
Each match is to consist of a best-of-three. The games must be played one at a time, and if the results after two games are 2-0, a third game is not played.[/B] Each player should state during the first turn something to the effect of "Round X match, game #X". When a game ends, post it in the Round 2-5 Results thread.
To help expedite the tournament, rounds 2-5 will take place on a rolling basis. That is, a round 3 match begins immediately when its two feeder matches from round 2 have resolved. When you finish a match, always check the results thread to see if your next opponent has been decided, and if so, start the next match.
Wild cards: The one remaining wild card spot has been awarded to Zugzwang. After a careful consideration of all non-qualifying players (even those with zero points) I concluded that Zugzwang's play was most meritorious. Other players who deserve to be commended for clever play, such as Derfel, Vermont, and Dni, were not quite as consistent as Zugzwang was. Although he was penalized for slow play, his play was only partly slow, so it did not affect the judgment.
Pairings: A single elimination tournament tree has been constructed. Warlocks were placed in the tree 100% randomly. Initial placements are shown here.
Good luck to everybody!
