It's probably good that the curse filter is enabled right now. (just kidding) Upon reflection, I must grudgingly admit it makes sense to give Zug the pass even though several players outscored him, because he's just plain better than the rest of the group, regardless of how we fared in the tourney points-wise. (I mean, points only affected every single other spot including the first wild card, so why this one) I guess it just never occurred to me (and I would guess at least a few other players) that a player who scored less points could advance. And how much can I really complain? I can't! As I mentioned to Slarty in a PM, what am I going to do, ask for my entry fee back? Rasper will have to represent this fine state without me! Go get em! (On a side note, I know he's away for a couple days so he won't start his matches right away.) Although I do want my bribe back. Or did the Swedish massage team not arrive yet? Seriously though, it was fun while it lasted. I'm sad to have to wait until next year to try again, though. I hope my play will have improved some by then! I may need that long to get enough practice in.

Yeah, you did a great job. I really thought you were going to beat Toyo after the first few turns when he wasted some gestures, but you really needed to go WPSD instead of WPFD. Or with the way you played it, should've charmed the goblin and cast Wounds on Toyo, because even if he counters the goblin you'll get 3 points in, whereas with the successful charm person you're still somewhat behind in initiative with no immediate way of dealing with that goblin.
Can't really comment on the game vs Derfel, you guys exchanged the lead a lot in that game. But overall, very good job.

I made a really poor play vs toyo when the elemental came out when I casted that anti-spell. I had some poor plan worked out that I just didn't think through.
Derfel and I fought quite the battle. I think we had a couple hundred comments going back and forth as well during the game - I really wish they were collected. They made my in game upset-ness not seem as bad. Too bad one can't erase game comments after the fact!

Actually toyo, I am rooting more for you, since you are on my fantasy team. That's the only reason you beat me, ya know.

I disagree.
First Zugs was and is still playing very slow (even though we said we would keep playing, I can force surrender in my game against him right now). He was the main reason his games didn't finish.
But thats really a side note. He should not advance just simply because he didn't have enough points. The fact that he is the best player out of those not making it through means nothing. thats why we have games... All the players that ended up tied for 3rd with 4 points should have been candidates. I would have taken someone from Pod A since the ranked elo scores of the players there indicate it being one of the toughest groups. (perhaps taking whoever won the battle between derfel and vermont, though not sure about that, I would probably check a bit more what happened in that group)
Don't get me wrong, I think Zugs is a great player, I know this tourney catches him at a bad time, which is why he is playing very slow. I just thing based on results he was not deserving of a wild card.
