I appear to be playing myself? I'm gonna assume that I'm playing Spez, since he also is playing himself...
Btw, odd participants is only impossible because we have an odd number of games. Were we playing four or six games it would work.

Rycchus Odd players CAN play even number of games. Example: 5 players playing 4 games each (each plays VS each other).

Hey, just wanted to get this going... and I'd finally created the ... table correctly (except I didn't after all that) I'm all for easy scripting, especially when someone else codes it Rycchusand awallfinally to play these guys... while I'm on a losing streak. Why, thank you Dubs. Tonight we dine in hell, gentlemen ) == 2Dubber less then 10 minutes, sorry ) and 15 minutes more of planning the thing and trying few different HTML approaches (there were separate forms for each player in the beginnings). the paring script itself is like 20 lines of code. well, since there is no _need_ for this script _now_ I'll take my time till March. I promise we will have nice and working pairings script by then XD

Ok, Bio, your script had been working, but now the page just says: "No input file specified." biologin.guiltygear.ru/pair.phpSpeaking about my script, now it checks if a players exists and if does, fetches her ELO. Still arranges players randomly for now )

Am I the only one who likes the fact that pairings are totally random?
An ELO balancing would take the fun out of the draws somewhat... I like the fact that you might need to beat Spacca, Slartucker, ExDeath Toyo and xade consecutively...

I'm with you Citanest -- the totally-random-ness is a huge bonus... Plus, if you look at games.ravenblack.net/player/ExDeath.htmlExDeath lists the last person to beat him (someone with 200+ less ELO than he has) -- so it can be done.

I'll just make a checkbox to select if you'd like to have random parings or Elo-seeded ones. It is easy to code.
As for me, I'm for ELO seeding. I have nothing against beating ExDeath or xade (and I did that few times already =)), but I don't think someone winning the league by getting like 7 points for, say, Lokiv, Spleenboy, Laxen, Sojobo and BioLogIn is a right thing. With all my respect to all mentioned players, we\they are no match to Masters. And IMO everybody in the League should be given (almost) equal starting conditions.

I'm actually kinda split by the whole ELO seeding thing... I mean, I like the idea of "oohhhh, anything could happen", but then, I'm also a fan of everyone getting a fair go, each an every month... hmmm, who knows, perhaps once the clan stuff comes up, it might shed some light on it a little more?

I like the fact that you might need to beat Spacca, Slartucker, ExDeath Toyo and xade consecutively... I love the random pairing. It's much more fun... if you look at your draw and going "Oh %$£&*!" it just makes it more of a challenge. It would be boring to be the same every time. Plus, there is at least some allowance for difficult opponents with the differential used on tiebreaking. If you win all your games against difficult opponents you know that no-one can touch you even if they had easy opponents; conversely, if you win all your games against easy opponents, you know there's a chance someone else could do better if they fought a harder fight. By the way, when you talk about ELO seeding, do you mean Player 1 ELO plays Player 2 ELO (etc) or do you mean that everyone gets (approximately) the same ELO average to play?

Actually I think BioLogIn has a point. I mean I look at my draw this month (and no offense anyone in there, and because I say this I will now having my worse outing in the league) and I think I finally have a chance to win. no slarty, exdeath, xade, toyo, rycchus etc. My best ranked elo opponent is freesoul ranked 10th Elo wise (of course I also have the #11th ranked Elo opponent as well).
I think the draw part is fun, but there should be some balance.
If you ask me, and I know no one did, I'd split the warlocks into 5 groups. say if we have 25 opponents create 5 groups and draw an opponent from each group. that way there is some balance, and some randomness in who you meet as well as balance.

Managing those five groups is just one more task to go through to pull this off. Especially with warlocks leaving and joining, they'd have to be adjusted every month.
Over time we'll get just as many "hard" months as "easy" months, and seeing who you end up playing each time is part of the fun to me.
Simple does equal better in this case, IMO.
