Hi all,
I'm just wondering who's been playing longer than me (under any Warlock Name)
MadEroll got me started here in February 2003 & I got serious in May 2003... so I've been playing 5+ years at this point and I've played probably close to 4000+ games (if we include the 200+ records I lost in the great server crash and all the very friendlies)
Who's been around longer than me? What Warlock Names have you used?
Dubber has always been my main account. (duh) I played briefly as pervyhobit when I didn't want to be bothered by the pro- or anti-Dubber crowds back in the day

Thinking back, I got started sometime around the end of 2002 I believe. But it's pretty close. I've always had the name ExDeath aside from a few side accounts.

I was Greystreak in 2002. Played 50 games I reckon, then took a long break. When I came back as Citanest, elo had been implemented and Taliesin had 28 ladder points.
I remember the opening moves in my first ever game...

The Wayback Machine begs to differ: in August 2003 ExDeath had played 9 games (and won 8 of them), and ExDeath doesn't show up on earlier player lists. Unless you started with a side account, which would make sense; nobody goes 8 out of 9 when they start unless they have previous experience (or play a bunch of VFs, I suppose).

I lost my first game (VF vs. Asgardian) and my first friendly game (vs. ratpfink) but I won most of the rest of my early games. But I found the refuge very early on, and that wouldn't have been around when ExDeath was starting.

Oh well, sorry to disagree with you, but it's not accurate. I move around a lot, and I remember where I was living when I started Warlocks. I only lived there for about 6 months, right after my 20th birthday (September of '02). So it couldn't have been much later than Dubber, if at all.

Agh, my bad. The list is accurate but I forgot about the Great Server Crashes, which were shortly before August 2003. Presumably you started earlier and just happened to be inactive when the WM took snapshots.

Not sure what you're looking it up on, but if it's nawglan's archive, I don't think he even had that up when I began playing.

Ya. My archive wasn't up back then. I did however snag all of the pages off of archive.org and parsed a bunch of them. Lots of the ones there only have the game ending move. None of the previous moves.
Would love to have a simple simulator written to take the ending play lines and comes up with the intermediate move text. Wouldn't have to have accurate targets of spells cast (I'm not tracking that.)

There's no way to even get an accurate list of the spells cast themselves, from that. SPFP could be Anti-Spell or Shield.

Ya, that is what I was thinking too. Would have to do checks vs monster present, and *shudder* possibly historical data. Do players play in ruts? I probably do, but the better players probably don't, so that won't work. Seems impossible to me.

Ha! I found me on 1473 on that! I seem to have begun in early 2004, which makes approximate sense.

I started around then too, under "geckosan".
Took a long hiatus though.
