Would any of the people who have played all the way through the D/P loop (ExDeath, Slarty, others?) care to enlighten the rest of us on how it ends? Presumably somebody goes for WPFD or WDDc at some point, but when? Or is this ExDeath's secret weapon to keep anybody else from running the loop all the way through against him?

I know the ending.
Wouldn't want to spoil it for you though.

Fair enough. Guess I've got homework then.

You can work it out, Awall.

It took me a really, really long time, and the worst part is, it's only good once. But I think I understand enough to counter the counter, and maybe counter the counter to the counter. Who knows. I'd prefer to avoid the loop altogether. The problem is not as simple as it would initially seem, and the solution is not obvious.

Well, obviously it isn't just about going for WPFD or WDDc at some point, because so many other factors can change that, it's about identifying the first moment at which going for damage or some other factor is advantageous. Obviously, this depends on life totals, since that is the only thing different from at 15 vs 15. Basically, you repeat the same analysis that proved that the loop was the best option, except the answer is suddenly different because the value of different outcomes has shifted with different starting life totals.

I always ended the loop early by hitting myself with an Amnesia. As long as I only do it once per 4 or so iterations, it isn't worth it for my opponents to try to take advantage.

You can, but it still usually leads to a long mirrored sequence, so it seems less risky to just agree to end the loop via PM.
