It seems to me that permanently fixing the clans' identities is a bad idea long-term. Too many things can go wrong, from crippling elitism to elders disappearing and leaving their clans dysfunctional. I think we need a mechanism for forming new clans.
Should it be possible to create new clans in future months? What should creating a new clan require? Discuss.

Hi the following post is strictly out-game speaking. As my In-game character might have different opinion on that --- I don't see it that way. Nobody needs Slartucker's approval for founding a coven. Slartucker only chooses four Covens which are allowed to compete for that orb (which I think would perfectly fit onto my desk). The whole idea adds to the role play and I really appreciate the ideas they came up with. Being part of a coven which is not privileged by the Unraveller, struggling for recognition, would be just as interesting as being in one of the four clans. You could just ignore it and make your own league I don't think that the clans competing for the orb and should never change, but why make strict rules for it? The rules posted by Slartucker are by no means a rule set for role playing and forming covens, but a framework where role play can happen.

These are all good ideas.
If an Elder disappears and can't be reached, then the process to choose a new Elder (as dictated in the clan description) will go forward. But there are other ways for clans to disintegrate, and someday we might simply see a place for a new clan even if all the current ones are working fine.
My suggestion is that we wait and see how the first clans work out. There will undoubtedly be other kinks in the clan system that need to be worked out as well. For now we can handle any problems on a case by case basis.

Well, the clans seem to be taking off nicely.
Just to put a suggestion out there, for more individualized enjoyment of League match-ups and the idea of clans i wonder how many warlocks there are that would be interested in building a narrative around themselves and the battles they fight.
I have updated my own profile to reflect that of a drunken master ronin. In time i plan to backwrite a more thorough narrative, history, how came i to the hell-plane, etc. In League battles i plan to inhabit the character, that is, try to avoid meta-talk, speak and behave as a drunken master.
If enough people build multi-faceted characters that would be enjoyable.
With the success of a hell-plane populated with eccentric and well drawn Warlocks, the next step might be in creating narrative adventures. Only off the top of my head here, but one such narrative might involve one clan getting an object of power (how the clan gets that object might be a quest in itself) If any members of the clan survive in battles against all members of all the other clans (with possible restrictions of not surrendering until turn 30...?) then they get a bonus 30 league points or whatever. Writing a narrative to describe this quest could be done in 30 minutes.
Each month different warlocks could contribute missions and stories?
personal vendettas could be back-written?
We've got a good start with the clans and i hope the Hell Plane can get even more interesting....

like it - but I also like manageble goals.
I've already started trash talk with xade in his challenge to me - aditionally, If he's up for it, I'll fill in the duel with a story on how it unfolds from my angle. He can do so as well.
Since I'm likely to be involved with apprentices, I'll certainly update my profile (it's already started).

I have been trying to stay in character- but I have found that it's terribly easy to slip into meta talk...

There will be ways to get a few extra clan points besides the league battles. We will start small on that front. The daimons will be involved.

Slarty, can we have a page with a table listing the four clans and their members? Maybe with each linked to their warlocks profile...mmmm.
Or is clan membership potentially secret?

There's no seekrit, our names and affiliations show as part of our usernames. That said, an updating list of clan members would be a useful thing.

Doesn't this forums have built-in forum groups listings? Because a few others I worked with had this feature.
upd: Hmmm, looks like this ones don't have this feature... upd2: And there still may possibly be Clan members w\o forum account. Looks like we gonna maintain separate listings after all.

There will not be clan members without forum accounts -- it's a necessary part of things. Otherwise they won't be able to read the clan messages at all.
There will be an updated list somewhere, but I'm not making one until January when changes are down to a mostly once-a-month frequency.
