I was wondering, oh mighty record keepers and computer know-howers, does anyone know how the numbers of active warlocks have ebbed and flowed over time. I think that the current players should all try our best to bring in new warlocks.
Maybe we should set a target that will soon rival the worlds of warcrafts and Second Lifes...shall we say 100?
Some new blood to spill, fry, zap...well that would be smashing.

Looking at my archive (which is incomplete... missing much from the 30k and 40k range.)...
2048 warlocks archived, 513 active within the last 10000 games. (non-melee) 1046 warlocks archived, 301 active within the last 10000 games. (melee)

Remember. also, that several of these Warlocks are aliases for the same behind-the-scenes players and several more are one-challenge-wonders which made a challenge or three and never finished/were force-surrendered.
The high number that I recall (after the inactive list was implemented) was ~2050 during the tail end of the Warlocks-School era - when there were 100s of one-challenge-wonders drawn in via the really hokey quizzilla and other sites questionaires.
The low number that I recall (take this one with a grain of salt) was back when I first started (Feb 2003?) where the entire list of players was around 150 (actually, this number seems a bit high)
