Vamplock hasn't been on for eight days. I haven't givin up on him, I'm just assuming he went to a trip starting around new years. However at what point should we declare him MIA? We could
1) Wait until the end of the month. If he doesn't come back everyone gets a bi against him. If he comes back and can finish his matches great. If he comes back but his matches aren't done by the end of the month it's treated as if he didn't come back and his opponent gets a bi?
2) If he's not back by the 15th his opponents are reassigned to each other randomly and someone either gets a bi or is matched up with someone who would have gotten a bi.
I'd prefer option two if it's reasonable. But I am thinking that maybe we should do it even earlier so people don't have to speed through their games in two weeks. (even though most take less then that anyway.)

We probably need an Absent Player Protocol. However, I can say now that I don't think #2 is a practical option either in this case, or for the future. I suppose he is just forfeiting (at a flat -10) if he doesn't show up. Has anyone tried to contact him?

Pseudo has also not been on for 6 days. I'd really rather not win +20 points just because of lucky match-ups. What's wrong with method 2 if we do it early enough? Take all the players with no-show opponents and redo the match-ups between them. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something?

Method 2 is messy: it introduces more chances for human error in score computation (I've already made one mistake on the last update), and doesn't even resolve the problem entirely (with one no-show, probably the most likely number, somebody still gets a bye). How early is early enough? There are 25 days to play league battles now, so starting on day 15 as you suggest leaves 10 days for these repaired matches. Even starting day 10 leaves 15 days, which should be enough, but suppose (as applies to a few players this month) you are busy at the end of the month and were trying to play quickly at the beginning? Then it's not fair to you. But anything earlier is an awfully quick assumption of disappearance... suppose you go on vacation for the first 10 days and just plan to finish the league in the second half? Finally, there is RavenBlack's tried and true answer: "it's extra work."
Case in point about assuming absence: a quick look at Pseudo's profile shows that he began at least one league game (with maknud) and in it, stated that he is going on vacation for a week and please don't time him out.
I am not adding to organizer workload and chance of error to pair 2 extra games and assign 1 random bye, instead of just having 5 wins by default.

Okay good answer I'll just wait it out and see what happens. Thanks. Maybe you could make a "Vacation Notices" thread? Players should post there if and only if they want to step out of the league temporarily for the next month.

From QnanG's profile: "IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Due to some things i didn't count with, I will be off line for some time. Feel free to force my turn on all my current games."
Now what?

I think the notice you quoted makes that pretty clear, doesn't it?
