Wow its the fourth time I'm changing this post. overmage stabs with his left hand. overmage proffers the palm of his right hand. overmage casts Resist Heat at Arquebus. Arquebus waves his left hand. Arquebus proffers the palm of his right hand. Arquebus casts Cure Light Wounds at himself. Arquebus casts Shield at himself. Arquebus is covered in a coat of sparkling frost. Arquebus is healed. Arquebus is covered by a shimmering shield. overmage attacks Arquebus, but is deflected by a shield. overmage(1) Health:6 Turn:0123456789012345678901234567 LH:P>>> RH:WWFP Arquebus(0) Health:2 - Fireproof(permanent) Turn:0123456789012345678901234567 LH:-DFW RH:WSPP Yes; I forgot that the preceding W made it a resist heat. Just wondering if anyone else makes blunders like these; it might be interesting to share them

Yes, I have definitely made the cause light / resist heat mistake. Rasper's gesture tool helps prevent this and several other mistakes. I highly recommend it.
The other one that would screw me up was typing a message, hitting enter, and submitting my turn before my gestures were set.

I often mis-scroll, which means putting in a P instead of a D, or whatever.
I used to be horrible with Remove Enchantment, but now I just target EVERY spell...

Derfel, Targeting EVERY spell is very inadvisable.
Any time you are unfortunately under the influence of an opponents disruption (mind control?) spell, it is best to let the auto targeting take effect (to avoid self stabs and other nasties)
Though this fact can also be exploited when charmed to cast 2 disruptions at your opponent at the same time...anyway, moral is, never do ANYTHING EVERY time.

same as with the above situation... the Resist got thrown at Arquebus, had it been auto-targetted, at least it would have come back to you... WWFP is one of the only times where you need to think about it... so just *always* think about cause heavy... the only other "mistake" that is rarely made is the CSWWS "counterspell", that comes out with a very nasty suprise...

I can't see how targeting EVERY time could be so horrible, as long as you are aware of the consequences. IE, if I'm charmed, I realized that either of my possible spells could be disrupted, so I guess in that case I would skip the targeting.
(In fact, I was lying. I never target spells. Nor monsters. Heck, I usually just choose random gestures and hope for the best.)

Derfel: in a single example: You are charmed with LH :DF
You decide to cast Heal Light Wounds (LH:W) which you then target onto yourself (because you target EVERY spell, right? [theoretically]) Your left hand is charmed to stab and you end up stabbing yourself. Had it been default, the heal would have automatically gone onto you, while the stab would have hit your opponent.

What the bloody bugger happened to my D then? Oh, it attached itself to my : and my : DF became a A lesson for us all.

That's why I said, when charmed I wouldn't target a spell.
But again - I was lying. What is this "Targeting" thing you speak of?

One of my favorites that I think I've gotten over is targeting a summon spell at the person I want it to attack.
My second favorite has been to forget to redirect the actions of a monster after I charmed them, so that they keep beating on me.
Meh - I guess somewhere deep inside I like the abuse?
