i had a random idea this weekend. (aren't kids school projects fun?) has anyone used one of those family tree makers? they seem like they would be really good for treeing out analyzes (really spellcheck? are you sure?). just add a generation for each turn and a child for each possibility? i was just wondering if anyone else had tried it out

You should use some more generic graph visualization tool like this: www.graphviz.org/But as the depth of your search tree is increasing and the number of possible move combinations is big, it will quickly be too much to fit the screen.

It'd never finish. Or it'd be missing shadow casting, and results of mindspells.

Only needs to be ~8 layers deep & only needs to consider paths to valid spells so it'd be ~20^8 by the time you're done, right?

I think that would be the total number of states you have after an arbitrary number of rounds, if you combine states which do not differ significantly (i.e. both states will lead to the game result, if given the same moves). Of course with the ability to power up your health beyond 15 HP and having a infinity number of Goblins the number of state theoretically would be infinite. But at some point it does not matter whether you are fighting a thousand giants or only five hundreds of them.

that's a cool looking program. i hadn't seen it before. it looks like it would be a pain to go back and reanalyze things though, which was my main concern. can you add blank rows or something like you do on excel? you know, just extra space. it seems that it would take a while to move it all around to be coherent again. definitely a program i will use though i love charts

Every once in a while I start to wonder if you guys are all as dorky as I think, and then you cooperatively reassure me. That's why I love this game.
