How many of you guys used to play a MUD? I played several prior to the graphic MMORPG revolution. My favorite was Duris (which as far as I can tell, Sony turned into Everquest).
I even wrote one back in the day. It's up at lurch.homelinux.org port 9999. Feel free to telnet in and look around.

Sadly, I always found that reading that much, when a simple EGA image could paint a thousand words, always annoyed me...

telnet lurch.homelinux.org:9999 Trying 8.15.7.100... Connected to lurch.homelinux.org:9999. Escape character is '^]'. Host/Domain name is invalid Connection closed by foreign host.
When I was in 6th grade, one of my friends ran a mostly generic copy of DikuMUD, which I used to play via 2400 baud modem.
You *defenestrate* the strange lamia!
