Is anyone going to PAX East (the Penny Arcade Expo, a huge gaming convention, in Boston, Apr 6-8)?
I'll be there all three days and it seems like the sort of event warlocks players might attend if they're in the area. I'll mostly be playing in board game tournaments and...playing competitive pokemon? (unclear how I became obsessed with the latter; hopefully it's a passing enthusiasm)
Tell me if you'll be there; it would be interesting to meet a warlock in person.

if you have bills to pay, pokemon will pass soon... that's what got me off of Magic: the Gathering. also, alas, i am in the southerly parts and that's a long drive.

Ah, pokemon isn't the cards, it's the DS game--one time entry cost (game cartridge), very convenient. Interesting strategy involved with switching in and out and a lot of strategy involved in the original selection and training of your team. Most rulesets ban the most overpowered pokemon so it comes down to mindgames, which is of course quite fun.
I haven't played Magic since middle school because that is a black hole I don't want to get sucked into. It's tempting, though.
My most competitive gaming is Settlers of Catan, but I did not do as well at the tournament this year as I did last year.
Overall, it was a very fun event (except for the failing once more to qualify for Catan nationals. Some day!)

i kind of want to try settlers of catan, i've heard really good things about it. i got out of Magic shortly after middle school as well. i went back to try it again after i got my first job, but sinking my whole first tax return into it was a little eye-opening.
i've thought about picking up pokemon for one of the systems recently also. thinking about it, my tablet will probably play it well...

Settlers has some deep strategy... but you can only play as deep as your opponents play (play deeper and you lose to the direct application of force) i kind of want to try settlers of catan, i've heard really good things about it.

that's always my problem with deep strategy games. i over-estimate my opponents deceptive abilities
