Spreadsheeting the December League results has led me to play with the Player rankings page stats.
Arguably, the early predictions of ELO inflation are supported... The sum of everyone's ELO divided by the count of ELO scores (including all the 1500s of the 0 games played Warlocks) is 1518.
Slippage of a mere 18 points over the 3?+ years and 40,000?+ games means ol' RavenBlack's ELO implementation is purdy durn good.

Isn't the main variable here whether the 1300 or 2000 players are more likely to retire? When 1499- players retire, they inject ELO into the system. This includes warlocks who play one turn, get a forced surrender, and never return again.
When 1501+ players retire, they remove ELO from the system.
In this case, I assume you weren't just doing the active warlocks, so "retire" actually means "have their account disappear" (i.e. very inactive unregistered accounts). As this probably includes a megaton of accounts just below 1500, but fewer the higher you go, some creep upwards is inevitable, I think.

Off topic, but if someone accepts an open challenge of mine, and I toss P/P on Turn 1 (because I'm not fond of their accepting of my challenge), do I lose any ELO for that?

Send me a challenge and we can test it out...

What - you'll throw the P/P?

P/P in the 1st 3 turns doesn't affect ELO standings, as I recall. Search the ravenblackgames Yahoo! group - RB posted there about it...

Games with less than 3 or 4 turns (I forget which) are ignored for Elo.

What - you'll throw the P/P? We can test it... I'll throw P's in test turns 1 and 3, you can throw it in test turns 2 and 4...
