After over 16y away, I've come back to show this game to my son, only to discover no one's playing anymore. It's dead. There's probably a good reason to it. Learning 45 spells? who has the time... Mobile app? well, there is one, and it's getting new players, it looks nothing like an app. You'd hardly find anyone going beyond B/B. So I'm raising the question - what would it take to get this game back alive? Few thoughts that came to my mind: 1) Might as well use the traffic it's getting through mobile to create a funnel of new players 2) ...but it must be an easy way in. More of a step by step like other games are 3) There's a real chicken an egg in creating enough games and a big enough list of players So I've put up a quick mock with a possible solution. Getting someone to implement it is a different question... Breaking it down to 1) New player mode (simplified game creation, and spell book, but the game itself is the same) 2) Regular mode 3) all together Take a look, let me know what you think NEW PLAYER MODE drive.google.com/file/d/1dbvp00lDY4klgp5JIZEDd0P3uXSJGU0T/view?usp=sharingREGULAR PLAY drive.google.com/file/d/1_S4xzvjFiQgoKN8MY2oztCMkfNKaE3HL/view?usp=sharingALL TOGETHER drive.google.com/file/d/1RUCDm1dMLog9QmqNmigFKAgp3Eq5dwfU/view?usp=sharing

first of all - thanks for your work new GUI is really cool But it take a lot of time to such cardinally changes We can easy change New player logic for now when new player download a game and register app automatically create 1 V.Firendly training battle with bot I can change game's level to Friendly and this change allow track win count of new player and give acces to more spell and battle creation also may I ask you to add icons to github project github.com/Pz1c/WavingHandsand please show your GUI prototype for mass battle thanks and good luck P.S. you can add new folder (Doc for example) into the github project and put your prototypes there

Cool. About the icons - I just took them from google image search, I don't have rights for these icons... If you're willing to put in the dev time then I can get designers on Fiverr to do icons for a few $
I'll try to put up a mock with same flows but based on existing UI, and better User Experience

GalbaradSince you're writing that the GUI is costly, I've put up a version re-using much of your existing GUI drive.google.com/file/d/1ikiiHdxnZRVN3vRvGi11V5ZJnei1azEP/view?usp=sharingAnd here's another one with improvements for the actual battle screens but still more or less same GUI drive.google.com/file/d/1VaHmJvk5qymQkHhZa1maTVIqnxev4mLM/view?usp=sharingRegarding your question on Multi player games mock in the original version (I guess you mean what would the battle screen look like) - There's actually not much to show there, notice that each player has a "section", so adding another player is just adding another section and scrolling between players So - in the mock you have: Opponent section Your section General section (elementals,...) Instead you would have: Opponent1 section Opponent2 section Opponent3 section Your section General section

Hail Prioli FWIW, a handful of people are playing another version of this game at mortalspell.com. There are some differences from RB's implementation, but the codebase is only about 5 years old or so, which makes it much more workable (compared to RB's 15+ years, no offence). The design is pretty much as minimalistic as it gets though. Maybe if a person who is skilled with GUI and mobile versions could share the backend work with Naigsa (the person behind mortalspell), it might be easier than starting from scratch yet again. Also hope that this (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.is.games.WarlocksDuel) is not the interface you're looking for =)

Hey BioLogInI looked up mortalspell.com and it seems even more sleepy than RB ... That's why I was offering a totally different approach, and different GUI (did you look at the links in the first post?) I'm not sure there's real value in updating API code base here. Basically since there's an ongoing stream of newbies to the WarlocksDuel mobile app, and none of them do anything beyond B/B... I was suggesting a different Gradual approach: 1) Do simple GUI fixes to the existing app to make the UX reasonable (not the UI) - see my second post 2) Add a beginner mode, for learning the spells gradually (at this point only client side in the app and server side in the bot, not enforced by APIs and desktop UI) 3) Change the game creation flow so people would join / create a game automatically, thus always having a someone to play with (especially for newbies). (client side only) 4) Do basic UI changes to the actual battle, re-using existing UI - see second part of my second post 5) Hopefully by that stage you'd have a wider group of playing again, and it would make more sense to invest in different GUI - see my first post ...after that there may be value to move to different server code-base WDYT?

Hey
I agree with the approach in general (why wouldn't I). I was merely implying that in order to get some server-side updates (which you might need as early as step 2) it might be better to consider implementations other than RavenBlack's.
RB has mentioned on multiple occasions that his is not maintaining his codebase, nor he is willing to share sources. He also mentioned that some parts of his code are quite outdated in terms of approach (for example his auth system does not even hash passwords and stores them in plain text instead, IIRC). Thus my suggestion.

Well, I guess the bottleneck is really getting someone who is actually willing to write some code

GalbaradI don't know how you did it. I did 2 games like that and couldn't reproduce. Also the rules state that this is not allowed, and also you definitely cannot change hands every turn like in the app. Changing hands for paralysis makes it super super powerful. Did you do all your moves from desktop or some from mobile? possibly some of the info is saved locally and not on server side?

Galbarad I think bots should send that field too, because now they keep flipping hands in para yep they will, cause bot's using app. Maybe you saw help in app when app suggest next gestures, give command to monsters Bot just automatically send turn command after suggestion done)
