Here is a place to comment on Ladder and ELO happenings. I like watching the ebb and flow and maybe discussion, kudos or beware this guys are in order.
From looking recently, i would say beware Vermont. Huge ELO leap and a nice ladder total. (a bit of practice in with the grandmaster, perhaps?)
Xade is fading from his heady ELO heights thanks to the destruction dealt by Bzali and Biologin.
Toyo reclaims his 3rd place from a break-taking Rhycchus thanks largely to a devestating winning streak against Biologin.
Bzali lodges an impressive ladder score, in reach of all but the top 2.
The top 2 spots remain unchallenged (though any single ladder challenge would certainly redefine them)
Awall continues his plod up the ELO without signs of plateauing.
Finally, Redhot and Ozymandius reappeared on the hell plane.

That was way too much ELO down the pan Look out though now I'm back, Toyo! And in other ladder news, I have someone to play!!! It's rather exciting (But xadey I'm still waiting for you...) zugzwang also seems to have disappeared again...?

Strangely enough, I seem to have acquired more than 10 ladder points. And from a month ago, my elo has jumped 53 points.
Now if I can just concentrate on the game a little more. One thing I have found that I probably should be doing, is leaving myself notes on each of the matches I play, so I don't forget what I was trying to do.

Start talking smack about the lower Melee rungs, xade -- you'll get 'em pissed off enough to climb up & whack you

Btw. Slartucker has gone inactive yesterday. ExDeath too, but lets hope thats due to weekends.
Which means Rycchus now sits atop of ladder. And Toyo tops ELO standings. Note - Rycchus is back to competitive play. And Toyo is at his best for at least last half a year, as far as I remember.
So... Since Slarty and ExDeath weren't giving much efforts to competitive play lately) Maybe (after this league round, for example) we can have a ladder match between Rycchus and Toyotami to watch? =) I think\hope Toyo will easily manage to get 1 point to make this possible. That would be quite a show.
How do you like this idea? )) We could easily add in some hype to shake up this community while Slartucker prepares clan rules ) Like official challenge, fans screaming for their favorite, and sooooo on ))

I have had a good run of it lately. I was wondering why.
I think the largest reason is that i haven't played any old hands for a while. Absolutely no offence meant to younger hands.
Guys like Slarty, Exdeath, Citanest and Xade have a bunch of tricks that undo me. Or they know how i play. They certainly know how to play monsters against me (I like to allow players to get monsters in exchange for health and take the monsters away, for less health - but these guys know how to work their monsters - especially Taliesin and Slucker)
These seasoned players also know exactly when to make someone pay with an FFF string or an FoD. Cold calculated killers.
I'll always consider myself one of the best of the brawlers. But i also understand Slarty and Exdeath's reluctance to play.
One or ten matches against Rychusssss wont prove who is the better player. Xade and i have an almost equal record against one another over 3 years but share an ELO difference. One day soon his ELO will probably surpass mine.
A great thing that comes with playing the best opponents is the balance. More inexperienced and less careful games can be uncouth, with fun interesting strategies, strange spell interactions and great improvisation. A game against a 1600-1800 is like balancing a broom in your hand. one against the the best is like trying to to balance spoon on your finger. One infintesimal false move and your clunked.
I like both. These days i'm playing the former. My experience is seeing me win a few more. I guarantee if i played the same games against ExDeath i would pay for every risk. The moral of the story: if you want to get a high ELO, play people in the pool just below you. But if you want to improve your game, play the masters.
Personally, i'm a shallow man and quite happy with victory.
Finally, i'd like to say: bring it on Rhychky!
