Congratulations to everyone. Of course I'll have to root for the Isle. But at least I know I'll get the chance Thanks also to BioLogIn for his excellent and unwavering work. Truthfully, I missed when the deadline was, or I would have reported that match. I was waiting for the win versus Xade

what a fun tourney. Thanks to everyone for participating. ArHan truly could be considered the rookie, and I would gladly bestow the honor upon him if he wishes it Overall I am pretty pleased with my performance in the tournament. I especially liked pushing my ELO up a bit, since it had been languishing below 1700 for too long.

First match with Freesoul has ended with his surrender. games.ravenblack.net/warlocks?num=76701&full=1It was really, really hard for me to resist the urge to go for permanency at the end, but a guaranteed bolt+troll was just good enough to make me reasonable. And I do have to second, or third, or whatever, the props to Bio. This whole tournament has been a blast so far (admittedly, in part because I'm in the final 4 and feel like I've been on a high for the last two months).

that was indeed an extremely tight ending, Freesoul. Looking forward to watching the final battle between you two.

Vermont - XadeCome on, guys. 4 days left, and you haven't even finished a single game? pah. == A brief overview of Ellipsis - Freesoul, game 1: games.ravenblack.net/warlocks?num=76701&full=1Both players opened with S/P and naturally moved to SW/PS. What I dislike about S/P mirror is that it leads to a 'stupid' guessing game on T3. However, I still like Freesoul's choice (PSF/SWD) better then Ellipsis' (SWP/PSD), latter being better only over 1 option (SWP/PSF) of other 3. Freesoul had positional advantage here, but he kinda weakly used it for some FSSW weave, so things evened out. Ellipsis let Freesoul to go into Invis with para'd hand on T7. I _guess_ for Freesoul going for SW would have been slightly better here (Ellipsis would have summoned a gobbie after not seeing a shield, though). On the other hand, I don't think a fireball threat was good for Ellipsis here, Freesoul is at 14 HP, he can afford trading fireball for ogre or whatever. Also, Ellipsis was pretty much defenceless should Freesoul gone for DFFDD in LH. Anyway, on T11 we can say that opening concluded and neither player has significant advantage. Freesoul continues attacking with Poison in LH and DFF in RH. Ellipsis clearly reads poison and aborts SP plans in favour of SPDW. However, he doesn't defend from bolt this way (he can't have W's in RH, because Freesoul would just switch to para and Ellipsis would succeed in dodging bolt only to die to poison), although he makes up for this with an ogre one turn later. On T14 Freesoul chooses weaker continuation of LH:S. IMHO LH:P would have been much better here - DPP takes a hit from the ogre, but also sets up a strong attack. DSP had set up a similar attack but without opponent being DPP'd. Ellipsis guesses better with ogre targeting, which leaves invisible Freesoul 9 to 10 and down an ogre. Now Freesoul 100% should have gone for SWD in one hand and SWFP or something in the other. Ogre can be totally managed when opponent is busy going invis, but letting opponent in D-Invis at 10HP is a big deal. This is basically where the game is done, because Freesoul stays all on defence while Ellipsis banks Time Stop, which he promptly turns into bolt and a troll. I don't really get what was Freesoul brewing with LH here (DFFD?), but I guess WWP would have allowed him to fight a little longer. Don't let your opponent into a free D-invis =) ==

Ellipsis - Freesoul, game 2: games.ravenblack.net/warlocks?num=76702Ellipsis starts with F/P, and Freesoul opens with D/P. However, for reasons unknown to me Freesoul continues for PSD/DFF only to be para'd into on T4, losing much of flow and tempo. I think it would be somewhat better for Ellipsis not to offer charms trade on T4. Hmmm. Actually, I'm at loss to comment what was happening before T12, some dubious plays from both players there =\ I guess I'll just fast forward. So, on T12, Ellipsis sees that Freesoul cam force an SPFP and switches from FoD to Haste (or was that planned earlier? well, either way...) Freesoul makes a very risky call, countering Ellipsis' Permanency (this was basically 50% game loss Freesoul dodged here), so he threatens Ellipsis with PDWP and hastened player has to spend most of time dodging it... and landing classical counter+storm combo (Freesoul should have abandoned para a turn earlier here). The funny thing is that Freesoul totally could get those 5hp back here after T19, should he gone for double charm. Instead he summoned an ogre. Ellipsis kinda played around it firing WPFD at Freesoul, who fakes a number of counters and moves to FoD. I think Ellipsis clearly underestimated the problem FoD poses here, because WPFD>> or WPFDSF in LH were clearly better lines to play. In the end Freesoul mizes another 50-50 and lands a FoD.

Vermont - XadeCome on, guys. 4 days left, and you haven't even finished a single game? pah. xade can no longer play at work so we basically get two moves in a day. The past few days' delay have been my fault as I've been out of pocket during the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm not sure how we can really speed it up given that we don't ever seem to be at the computer at the same time.

Okay guys. It is December 3rd, about 16 hours past the deadline. Xade and Vermont still have to finish a single game. Both of them have contributed to this delay, Xade kinda contributing more. Their first game is in undefined state (with some advantage to xade I guess), the second game is clearly in xade's favor but still far from over.
Here I have to choose the lesser evil between giving you guys more time, declaring one of you the winner of the semis and DQing both of you =( And I totally don't like all those options.
I'll be posting my judgment tomorrow evening, so you at least have about 24 hours more to do something.

I'm pretty sure that the final four would all rather us finish our matches, but do what you must.
