yeah, final4- more time!! But if we do need to make a decision, give it to Vermont. I won't have any *extra* time to play in the next round either way, so I'll get the boot by default there..

That being said, xade is outplaying me. He probably deserves it more than I do.

Honestly, I totally don't know what to do here =(
Giving more time to you guys is not a problem of having other players agree to it. It is a problem of abiding to the rules written. If we decide to allow you guys to spend more time on your games (thus breaking rules I've set myself), this would instantly put other players (those who made their effort to abide the rules) in a disadvantage. I cannot see myself as a judge creating a situation where it is advantageous for players to ignore the rules. Tournament is not only about playing, it is about playing in definite pace. Sorry guys, giving you more time is something I cannot do even is Ellipsis and Freesoul ask me to. Also, I honestly thought you'd use these weekend to make up for your delays, but you didn't. 0 moves per 3 days. Who can tell when you'll be able to finish at this pace?
Considering this, I clearly cannot just let you to continue, but it is very hard to decide who of you is the weakest link. xade was only able to play from home limiting his moves to a few per day; but Vermont has been effectively missing from the game for 3 days 2 times, including right now. Game positions favour to xade more, but he is a slower player here.
What I'm about to ask you guys is to talk to each other ASAP and to decide who is conceding and who is advancing to the finals. I need your answer in 24 hours from now, otherwise I'll be just choosing it randomly or the way I see fit
Finals will start as soon as possible and last till December 31th 00-00 GMT 0, so we would have 24 hours to post judgements\announce winners\discuss everything\prepare for the New Year.

Bio, that's completely fair mate. We put you in a situation and forced you to make a tough call- and I apologise for that. Personally, I'm leaning towards dropping out- but I'll have a chat to Vermont today and see if we can't work something out.

xade and I discussed; he has basically beaten me at this point. He is willing to drop out since he's concerned he won't be able to play enough in the finals either, but he won the match so I'd rather he move on. I certainly don't deserve it.
Got get 'em, buddy!

You guys go to great lengths in order to avoid having to play me. In any case, I take it this means I'll be playing Xade in the finals?

You're a good man Vermont, and played well. Alright, I guess that's the decision- Ellipsis, you took me out earlier in the comp- but you're going down mate.

Okay guys, many thanks for sorting this out... but that's all meaningless without final game, and I don't see any yet =( Ellipsis and Xade, please, send the challenge to your opponent or accept one if your opponent did it before you...

First off, my thanks to both players for trying to finish all three games before the New Year. Xade was playing in a fast pace; Ellipsis had like two 60-hour breaks around Christmas, but aside from that he wasn't stalling either. Finalists had completed games 1 and 2, and came close to the end of game 3. Both of them reacted to my today's mail and submitted a few turns today. However, we're already past the deadline I announced after semi-finals, and I ought to make a decision regarding the final game.
What have I taken into consideration: - This is game 3 of 3. Xade won game 1 relatively "easy". He was mostly dominating game 2 as well Actually, the game 2 was mostly favouring Ellipsis, but with some luck and some very good moves (see later posts) Ellipsis grasped the victory. In game 3 there were times when either player could win in a few turns, but the other escaped... apparently, during like last 15 turns position shifted from highly favourable to xade to favourable to Ellipsis, then back to xade and now back to Ellipsis. Judging such game based on current position on any chosen turn doesn't feel like fair and potentially encourages stalling.
Considering this, I grant additional time for this game, and encourage both players to do their best to finish it before January 10th.
But wait, isn't that inconsistent with what my decision regarding semi-finals where I argued against adding time to the game? Well it kinda does =\ My considerations about that: - The situation in semis was kinda different - there was not a single game completed by the deadline... not even close to current position, where the last game can possibly end in a few turns. - I haven't "punished" xade for being slower player in semis... "Punishing" Ellipsis for being slower player in finals would also be inconsistent as hell. - When it comes to judge/add time dilemma, a judge can only choose 'lesser evil'; there is really no 'good' option here. What to consider as a lesser evil is kinda personal decision for the judge; however, one can be sure that such decision is neither simple nor easy. I extremely don't like adding time here, but I like judging this game even less.
Well, this being said, I'd like to thank all players for bearing with me during this event ) I hope next year I'll get to play and someone else get to judge the thing. Meanwhile, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! Let's hope that next year will bring good things to all us warlocks )
