Actually, the response to that opening that I'd play if I was the one who opened D/P is...
DPPWPFS PSDWFFF
PSDDC SWDDC
Oops... FoD, with only one chance to escape.

And poetic justice strikes again...
Just got whomped by BioLogIn using the above weave, which I'd totally forgotten about until after I submitted the C/C. Serves me right. I guess S/P is out then?

You should have gone CSW CSW
You'd get your clear 50\50 then. I don't think S/P is completely out even in this conditions. D/P player has 50% win via FoD, but if he loses a 50\50 gamble, he is down 5HP and his spell flow screwed... which is basically game loss for D/P here... And - again, you never know what will you face. Should I have started with F/P as I might have, your S/P would be at least as good as any D/P...

on the other hand... DPPWPFSS PSDWFFFF
PSDDCSWP SWDDCSWD
Last para at self. Either FFF and SWD clashed and FoD won, or we have a FSSDD through, which evens HP: DPPWPFSSDD PSDWFFFFFx
PSDDCSWP SWDDCSWD
So no 50\50 with double Fear either... S/P player still can toy with cw\dispel threat... PSDDCCW SWDDCCW or PSDDCCDPW SWDDCCCxx

The only time Dispel can be used against FoD is when there's no paralysis involved. It's the only way to defend SPFP/PWPF, although it still isn't foolproof (SPFPF/PWPFS beats xxx-C/xxx-C). The problem with using Dispel against FoD is that if they have F the turn of your C, they can target the para at nobody on the subsequent turn and then paralyze you the turn after to change your Dispel into Amnesia. Mirror isn't a threat, because if para gets bounced it still doesn't stop FoD and it means you don't have a mirror ready to stop the FoD itself.

Mirror ain't a threat cause you don't throw a para at a clap... you throw it the next turn... ps - S/P, Take out the garbage!

S/P lather my undergarments. Heil xade.
My 2c, I originally back in the day as Geckosan, was quite fond of D/W as an opener.
Then I switched to S/P, and had never been happier. Against anything but D/P D/S it can dominate, giving you a good chance of getting your P spell through luck or unpreparedness on your opponent's part. P in your opening is imperative. Most versatile of few 4-letter combos in the game, delivering a more punch than a mere 3-gesture control technique, much easier to complete than a bolt, para reduces its optional branches by 1 on the first gesture and 2 on the second but cannot complete neutralize it. But against D/P, the S is weak.
Nowadays I use D/P, and it f**king rocks like cocaine ladies and gents. I'm doing way better than before. On a para-heavy player (succat) I'll switch to F/P because it works just as well. On low level players you just have fun, but D/P all the way man.
I believe that the dual-D/P standoff where you get shot and repeat is the proper and ultimate opening to the game. That mechanism is very elegant, the option for a perfect draw every time. Now, what the game needs is a setting in the creation options where you choose the life you and your opponent both start with, 15 or less. It makes sense. A good option might be where bolt-level damage comes in at 5. Or 10, more conventionally.
Conclusion: S/P, tantalize my senses with your grace and charm, then leave me for slaughter on the thundering rocks so many miles below.
