by the way, powers that be - What's the rulings on me starting a 3 way melee, and bailing on the first turn? It does seem like a reasonable solution, but for a reason that has for years been unknown to me, every match MUST be for Elo rating. It's the players' responsibility to make sure their challenge is done correctly, and that they have enough spots to play. I really hate defending a rule I don't agree with, but it would be unfair to allow them to play unrated, especially with such a massive disparity. They could agree to a draw, or find a way to get the game finished on time. P.S. This wouldn't happen if you were registered, as you should be. It costs $8 and would be an instant solution to this problem.

Saypin, you can surrender your non tourney match, if toyo's match last's too long.

The insistence on rated matches has mostly been mine. It isn't really necessary, but I do think it makes sense. In comparing Warlocks with other 1v1 games that use Elo and Eloesque ratings systems, sanctioned tournaments are typically the main source of rated games. If a tournament is supposed to matter more than regular play, and if it's supposed to attract the best players and pit them against each other, why wouldn't it be Elo rated?
The only reason not to is to allow players to pick and choose their rated matches. This goes, EXPLICITLY, against both the spirit and the letter of Elo and Eloesque ratings systems, which become less accurate when players are allowed to select their opponents.
Of course the other thing is that EVERYBODY SHOULD REGISTER. This game is the best value you will ever find, and it is faithfully maintained by someone who doesn't play much anymore and pays a chunk of the server costs himself. Not registering, especially for a longtime player like you Toyo, is pretty lame.

My apologies to all my opponents for the delay. It is suprisingly impossible to find an open wifi connection here in Rome, and the "internet-center" I"ve just found has some insane price list like 6€ per 30 min... but I"ll make moves in all my games later tonight, and I"ll make some tomorrow as well.
I"ll return home on Monday. Thanks for bearing with me.

Check the end move of this game: games.ravenblack.net/warlocks?num=67153&full=1Did you know a time-stopped monster will kill you even if you surrender first? Check the order of spells applied & see if you see it... I overlooked it the first time or two Dubber proffers the palm of his left hand. Dubber proffers the palm of his right hand. Dubber casts Shield at himself. Dubber casts Shield at himself. RedSpectra points the digit of his left hand. RedSpectra proffers the palm of his right hand. RedSpectra casts Time Stop at Crazy Ogre. From the rules:
A time-stopped monster will attack before a surrender is recognised, though a time-stopped player will not.

if a monster gets killed on the turn it timestopped, does it still get two swings?

I'm pretty sure not. Same as if you get killed on the turn you timestop, you don't get an additional turn. I'm think the rules say something along the lines of, "If the target warlock or monster is still alive at the end of the current turn..." but I can't be bothered to check at the moment.

if a monster gets killed on the turn it timestopped, does it still get two swings? No. your Time Stop cast will have been wasted. I've actually observed this in play. Basically: if it's dead, it can't attack. (duh)

Careful with that "same as" reasoning. If Time Stop hits a warlock and an ogre simultaneously, and the ogre attacks and kills the warlock in its own time stopped attack, the warlock will never get his time stopped turn.

Actually, Toyo died twice, while I merely died once. I killed him and he killed both of us - so, technically, I should be the winner *whine*
