The Fantasy Team Contest is closed. Round 1 will begin shortly.
There were 18 entries to the contest. This year's entries featured some of the most colorful concepts yet, with names like "Ho Down Hoot-N-Nanny", "Arrrrrrrrleet!", and "Let's Hope I Don't Choke".
I'm running an unofficial 19th team to see if I can beat y'all -- however, it won't count for the Contest. My own picks ("Slartucker's Refugees") were Awall, Rycchus, Maven, and Freesoul. Meanwhile, here are some statistics about all the teams, in crude bar graph format.
In general people agreed with ExDeath that the new format favored larger teams:
3 XXXXX
4 XXXXXXXX
5 XXXXXX
As far as the most popular warlocks went:
Awall......XXXXXXXXX
Dubber.....XXXXXXX
Reds.......XXXXXXX
Rycchus....XXXXXXX
Derfel.....XXXX
Dummiesday.XXXX
Spacca.....XXXX
Vermont....XXXX
Zugzwang...XXX
Alaric.....XXX
Nawglan....XXX
Toyotami...XXX
Awall, Dubber, Reds, and Rycchus were used the most by far, with many people commenting on the fact that the point system made Awall and Rycchus bargains due to their lack of previous tourney placings and their spates of recent VFs. Every single team featured at least one of those four warlocks. Many warlocks not listed above were chosen once or twice.
6 teams feature the team-maker
5 were submitted by warlocks not playing in the tournament
5 were submitted by 'masters'
1 pair of teams was identical
The masters' teams were not statistically very different from anyone else's; they included two 5-person teams, two 4-person teams, and one 3-person team, and they favored Awall (4), Rycchus (3), Dummiesday and Vermont (2 each).
